Brighton Fringe sets out to stimulate, educate and entertain all year round through a diverse range of events, performances and workshops.

During May, Brighton Fringe welcomes international performers and audiences as it showcases the creative heart and soul of the city and its unique cultural heritage. This vast celebration of the weird, wild and wonderful has grown out of, and is inspired by, home-grown talent. more than 30% of events are put on by artistic companies based in Brighton & Hove.

We are committed to helping the arts flourish. Brighton Fringe is completely open-access, which means anyone can register and put on a Brighton Fringe event as no selection criteria is imposed on participants. This enables both new and established performers to take risks and entertain audiences. We also help artists develop professionally through a range of year-round workshops, mentoring and bursary programmes.

We also work closely with festivals worldwide and international networks such as the World Festival Network and World Fringe Alliance to further support performers in touring, fundraising and developing.

To find out more about Brighton Fringe take a look at our Annual Review.

Seven Ages of Mam @ Werks Central - Sweet Werks 1

A funny and contemporary re-imagining of Shakespeare’s famous soliloquy, from Mam’s point of view!

This hilarious, bittersweet show will take you on a journey through the highs and lows of motherhood, from giving birth and gaining the title of Mam, through the ensuing seven ages of Mam’s life.

Has motherhood changed across the generations? Do all parents dread homework? Do cabbage leaves work? How do we keep our own identity while being responsible for shaping the identities of our children?

Written by Mark Evans with contributions from Pauline O’Driscoll.

Conflict of Interest @ Werks Central - Sweet Werks 2

When stand-up comedian Richard Pulsford decided to research his family tree, he uncovered some seriously interesting stories of ordinary people caught up in World War 1 – on BOTH sides.

Richard tells the stories he uncovered of two of his serving relatives who both died in 1918, and the journeys which ultimately took him on a pilgrimage to visit the grave of his great-uncle in France on the 100th anniversary of his death last October.
